Smile in One Visit

You've waited long enough. it doesn't have to take a year.

Transform Your Smile in One Visit - Comfortably, with IV Sedation

Sanford, FL - minutes from Lake Mary, Longwood, Oviedo, and Orlando

A smile makeover usually means several treatments - veneers, whitening, a crown or two, sometimes replacing a missing tooth. Most practices spread that across eight or ten appointments over the better part of a year.

Dr. George Mitrogogos does it in one. He administers IV sedation himself, in this office, so the whole plan can be completed while you sleep through it.

You arrive in the morning. You wake up with your smile finished.

What's Included in a Smile Makeover

A smile makeover is a combination of cosmetic and restorative treatments planned together so the result looks like one smile rather than a set of separate repairs. Which treatments you need depends on what's actually happening in your mouth - and that's decided at an exam, not from a photograph.

These are the treatments most smile makeovers are built from:

Porcelain Veneers.
Thin porcelain facings bonded to the front of your teeth, used for chips, gaps, permanent discoloration, and teeth worn short by decades of use. Porcelain doesn't stain the way natural enamel does. It also isn't permanent — in Dr. Mitrogogos's experience veneers last ten to eighteen years before they need replacing, and you'll want to be careful with very hard foods.

"You're always going to be worried - is one of these veneers going to pop off? Even though you can bond them onto your tooth pretty well, you still have to be careful with them for them to last long term." - Dr. George Mitrogogos

That's the kind of thing you should hear before treatment, not after.

Porcelain Veneers

Thin porcelain facings that cover chips, gaps, permanent stains, and teeth worn short over time.

Professional Whitening

Custom take-home trays worn over three to four weeks — done before veneers so the shades match.

Porcelain Crowns & Bridges

For teeth too cracked or heavily filled to hold a veneer, and to fill the gap where one is missing. Metal-free, so no dark line at the gumline.

Dental Implants

Replaces the root as well as the tooth, so nothing shifts around it. Extraction and implant planned in the same appointment.

Lumineers

Porcelain veneers that, in the right case, can go on with little or no drilling of your natural tooth.

Professional Whitening.
Done with custom take-home trays worn over three to four weeks, not a single in-office session - the take-home protocol is what actually holds. Sensitivity while bleaching is common and temporary; teeth that were sensitive before will still be sensitive after.

Porcelain Crowns and Bridges.
For teeth too cracked or heavily filled to hold a veneer, and for replacing a missing tooth between two healthy ones. All restorations here are metal-free, so there's no dark line at the gumline as you age.

Dental Implants.
When a tooth is already gone or can't be saved, an implant replaces the root as well as the crown. Extraction and implant planning happen in the same appointment rather than across separate visits to separate offices.

Lumineers.
Also porcelain, and in the right case they can be placed with little or no reduction of your natural tooth. When your bite is favorable, your teeth don't show much, and you're looking to make teeth longer rather than reshape them entirely, this can be done without drilling on your teeth at all.

Can You Really Get Several Procedures Done in 1 Appointment?

Yes - if the dentist can sedate you in the office. With IV sedation, Dr. Mitrogogos can sequence veneers, crowns, extractions, denture and implant work into one appointment instead of spreading them across separate visits over months.

The limit isn't the dentistry. It's how long a person can comfortably sit in a chair awake. Remove that limit and the calendar collapses.

  • What makes it possible: IV sedation administered in-house, with continuous vital-sign monitoring.
  • What can be combined: veneers, crowns, bridges, root canals, extractions, dentures, implants and whitening - depending on your case.
  • Who it's for: adults with several things that need attention, not one.
  • What it costs: depends on the case; you leave your 2-hour free consultation with a written treatment plan with the fees included.
  • First step: book your free two-hour exam and consultation with Tracy and Dr. Mitrogogos, which includes x-rays, photos and 3D imaging if your case needs it.

You Didn't Decide to Wait. It Just Kept Getting Pushed Back.

A tooth chipped a few years ago. Then a crown came loose. Then the front teeth started looking darker in photographs than you remembered, and somewhere in there you stopped smiling with your teeth showing.

You've probably been handed a treatment plan with eight appointments on it, looked at the calendar and the number at the bottom, and quietly put it in a drawer.

Most of the adults Dr. Mitrogogos treats waited years. Not because they didn't care - because the version of "getting it fixed" they were offered meant giving up a year of their life to do it, one uncomfortable appointment at a time.

At Sanford Dental Excellence, you can get an entire smile makeover in a single visit.

━ PLANNING THE SMILE

How many teeth does a smile makeover involve?

More than most people expect. The number is set by how many teeth show when you smile and talk, not by how many are damaged. Treating two in isolation usually makes the ones beside them look worse, so a smile makeover is planned across the whole visible arch and the count is settled at your exam.

"It's going to look super weird if you have six teeth that are nice, pretty and white, and all your other teeth are out of alignment or they don't look the same color."

DR. GEORGE MITROGOGOS

Sequence matters. Whitening comes first, veneers second - porcelain doesn't lighten, so the shade of your veneers is matched to your teeth after they've been brightened. Reverse that order and you're locked into a mismatch. Ask any practice quoting you a smile makeover which order they do it in.

Getting the result to look natural is a matter of shade, translucency and shape, not brightness. Porcelain can be built to mimic real tooth color and the way light passes through natural enamel - a smile makeover done well on a sixty-year-old shouldn't announce itself.

How it works

How a smile makeover fits into one appointment

This is the part most practices can't offer, and it comes down to one thing: Dr. Mitrogogos is credentialed to administer IV sedation and does it himself, here.

You're asleep for it. Not unconscious - this is moderate sedation, so you're breathing on your own and you'll respond if someone says your name - but you won't experience the appointment, and most patients don't remember it.

1

Your consultation · two hours

A complete exam, a full X-ray series, photographs, and a written treatment plan with real fees. Booking about two weeks out, Monday through Thursday.

2

Whitening first, if it is in your plan · three to four weeks

Custom take-home trays, one arch at a time. Porcelain doesn't lighten, so this happens before anything is matched to a shade.

3

The appointment · one morning

Veneer preparation, a crown, an extraction and implant placement sequenced into one sitting under IV sedation. Sedation appointments book six to eight weeks ahead.

4

Afterward · the rest of that day

You'll need someone to drive you, and you'll be groggy for four to six hours. Most patients describe it as the best sleep they've had in years.

Included for new patients

Your first IV sedation is complimentary with any cosmetic dental procedure

A $750 value, at no charge.

"Normally the first thing they say when they wake up is, 'Is that it? Are we done?' And I've been working my butt off here for two hours."

  • EKG

  • Annual emergency drills

There is a practical ceiling. Dr. Mitrogogos prefers to keep sedation appointments under three and a half to four hours. A very large plan may still need two visits - but two is a different proposition from ten.

Sedation for a smile makeover has its own eligibility considerations, including your health history and certain medications. Those are covered in detail on our sedation dentistry page, and reviewed with you at your consultation.

━ CANDIDACY

Am I a good candidate for a smile makeover?

Most adults with several teeth that need attention are. The usual fit is someone over 50 who has been putting treatment off, whose front teeth are worn, chipped or mismatched, and who would rather handle it in one appointment than eight. Candidacy for the sedation itself depends on your health history, and that is reviewed at your exam.

LIKELY A GOOD FIT

Several teeth need attention rather than one

✔ You've been putting treatment off, often for years

✔ Your front teeth are worn, chipped, darkened, or don't match each other

✔ You dislike dental visits, or physically struggle to sit through long ones

✔ You'd rather take one day off work than eight

✔ You're paying privately or through dental insurance

PROBABLY NOT THE RIGHT FIT

Several teeth need attention rather than one

— You're looking for a routine cleaning and checkup - that's a different appointment

— You're covered by Medicaid - this practice doesn't participate, though patients are welcome on a self-pay basis and there's an in-office dental discount plan

— You want a single tooth matched to the ones beside it - worth doing, but it isn't a smile makeover and shouldn't be priced like one

One honest note about sedation. In roughly one case in twenty it doesn't take as expected, most often in patients with a built-up tolerance to certain medications. Dr. Mitrogogos reviews your history at the consultation and will tell you if he thinks that applies to you, rather than discovering it on the day. If IV sedation isn't right for you, oral sedation costs less and still leaves most patients calm and remembering very little.

━ WHY THIS PRACTICE

Why have your smile makeover done here

Ask Dr. Mitrogogos why patients choose this practice and he gives three reasons in this order: sedation available for nearly every procedure, everything done in one location, and a private office with a team that's been together for years.

Patients tend to notice the third one first.

"I have a lot of people who go to corporate offices or other private offices and say there are 30 different people running in. One does the X-rays, one does the probing, another comes in and tells me this, then the finance person comes right away. I talk to the dentist for two minutes and nobody explains to me how my mouth is or what my options are. Who nowadays sits with a patient and talks to them for 30 minutes? It doesn't happen."Dr. George Mitrogogos

He is the only dentist here. The person who examines you is the person who plans your smile makeover, does the work, and follows up afterward. Nothing gets handed to an associate you haven't met.

Where the standard came from. Dr. Mitrogogos earned his Army scholarship after being accepted to dental school, completed his AGD residency at Fort Benning, and served five years on active duty. For part of that time the Army put him in charge of the post's cosmetic dental clinic, treating lieutenant colonels, colonels and command sergeants major at the end of long careers, about to return to civilian life.

Today he's a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry - roughly the top 5% of general dentists - and Sanford Dental Excellence has been named Best of Sanford six times: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

━ INVESTMENT

What does a smile makeover cost?

It depends on how many teeth are involved and which treatments your plan includes. Six veneers and a full-arch reconstruction are different projects, and quoting a number before an examination would be guesswork.

What we can tell you plainly: you leave your free consultation with a written, itemized treatment plan and real fees - not a range and a follow-up call. Payment options are reviewed with Tracy at the same visit, including CareCredit if you'd like to apply.

CareCredit is the only third-party financing offered. There's also an in-office dental discount plan, which is a membership program rather than financing.

━ YOUR FIRST VISIT

What happens at your free consultation

It is a complete two-hour new patient exam, and it costs nothing. You get a full dental exam by Dr. Mitrogogos, a full-mouth X-ray series, intraoral photographs, and a written treatment plan with your actual fees, which is yours to keep whether or not you treat here. Tracy runs most of the appointment and Dr. Mitrogogos meets every new patient.

Two hours. Not a sales conversation.

"I went in to get an opinion about the mess in my mouth that I have been delaying for years because I knew it would be a traumatic event for me. He was so honest about what he thought could be done, he talked to me, he did not lecture me (that was important) and if he said it could be done I had all the confidence he would do the job correctly."
Beverly M. · Google review

✓ A complete dental exam (D0150) by Dr. Mitrogogos

✓ A full-mouth series of digital X-rays, plus full-mouth periodontal probing

✓ A 3D CT scan when your case requires one

✓ Intraoral photographs - most patients have never seen their own teeth this way, and it's usually the moment the plan makes sense

✓ About ninety minutes with Tracy, who goes through your history, what's bothering you, and what you want your smile to look like

✓ Time with Dr. Mitrogogos, who reviews the X-rays with you and walks through your options

✓ A written, itemized treatment plan with fees, handed to you before you leave, for all but the most complex cases

✓ A payment and financing conversation with Tracy at the end, including CareCredit if you'd like to apply

Who is This Consultation For?

The free new patient consultation is for new patients considering meaningful treatment — the work this practice is built around:

  • Full-mouth treatment: extractions, dentures, crowns, and bridges
  • Cosmetic dentistry: veneers, whitening, smile makeovers
  • Dental implants, including full-arch cases
  • Any patient who needs or wants IV sedation to get dental care done

A few honest boundaries, so nobody's time is wasted: This is a new-patient offer (returning after more than a year involves a new exam fee).

Our practice focuses on comprehensive and cosmetic care for adults — if you're looking only for a routine cleaning and checkup, a general family practice will fit you better and see you faster.

If your exam reveals something outside our scope — orthodontics, pediatric care — we'll tell you plainly and refer you to someone good.

consultation & SMILE MAKEOVER questions, answered

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in a smile makeover?

Most combine several treatments planned together: porcelain veneers, professional whitening, crowns or bridges where teeth are too damaged for veneers, and implants where a tooth is missing. Which ones you need is determined at an exam. The goal is a result that reads as one smile rather than a set of separate repairs.

How many teeth will I need done?

Usually more than people expect. The number is set by how many teeth show when you smile and talk, not by how many are damaged - treating two in isolation tends to highlight everything around them.

Can a smile makeover really be done in one visit?

In most cases, yes. With IV sedation administered in-office, veneer preparation, a crown, an extraction and implant placement can be sequenced into one morning. Dr. Mitrogogos prefers to keep sedation appointments under three and a half to four hours, so a very large plan may need two visits rather than one.

Will I be asleep for it?

Effectively, yes. IV sedation is moderate sedation rather than general anesthesia - you breathe on your own and will respond if someone says your name - but most patients have no memory of the appointment. Full detail is on our sedation dentistry page.

Do I have to whiten before getting veneers?

Yes, if whitening is part of your plan. Porcelain doesn't lighten, so veneer shade is matched to your teeth after they've been brightened. Whitening is done with custom take-home trays over three to four weeks.

Is the consultation really free — will I get a bill afterward?

The new patient consultation exam, X-rays, photographs, and treatment plan are free for new patients. You'll know the cost of any recommended treatment before you commit to anything, in writing.

How long is the appointment?

Two hours. About ninety minutes with Tracy, the practice's treatment coordinator, and about thirty minutes with Dr. Mitrogogos, who personally meets every new patient.

How do I schedule?

Give us a call or fill out the form above to request a consultation. New patient consultations are held Monday through Thursday and are typically scheduled within about two weeks. If you submit an online request, Tracy calls you back to discuss your situation and schedule.

What should I bring?

A photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medications you take. Old dental records aren't required, though they sometimes help.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

In Dr. Mitrogogos's experience, ten to eighteen years before they need replacing. They're strong but not indestructible - very hard foods carry some risk, and that gets discussed honestly before treatment rather than after.

Can veneers be done without drilling my teeth?

In some cases. When your bite is favorable, your teeth don't show much, and the goal is to make teeth longer rather than reshape them, veneers can sometimes be placed with little or no reduction of natural tooth structure. Whether that applies to you is determined at the exam.

What does a smile makeover cost?

It depends on how many teeth are involved and which treatments are in your plan. You'll leave your free two-hour consultation with a written, itemized treatment plan and real fees, plus a financing review including CareCredit.

What if sedation doesn't work on me?

It happens in roughly one case in twenty, most often in patients with a built-up tolerance to certain medications. Dr. Mitrogogos reviews your history at the consultation and will tell you if he thinks it applies, rather than finding out on the day.

How far out are you booking?

New-patient consultations are running about two weeks. Sedation appointments book six to eight weeks ahead, so the consultation is worth scheduling before you've fully decided.

Do I leave with actual prices?

In nearly every case, yes — a printed, itemized treatment plan with fees, reviewed with you line by line before you leave. Highly complex cases occasionally need additional planning first.

Can treatment start the same day?

Sometimes, if you want it to — impressions, digital records, occasionally even a crown. There's never an obligation to start anything.

Is the free IV sedation offer real?

Yes. New patients who proceed with a cosmetic dental treatment receive their first IV sedation or nitrous session at no charge. Candidacy for IV sedation is confirmed at your consultation based on your health history.

Do you take my insurance? What about Medicaid?

We work with most private dental insurance as an out of network provider. We do not participate in Medicaid; self-pay patients are welcome, and we offer an in-office dental discount plan. We also offer dental financing through CareCredit.

What Happens When You Call?

You'll talk with Tracy — not a call center. She'll ask what's going on, answer your questions, and find you a time. That's it. No pressure, no obligation, and no decisions to make on the phone.
